Will The Rain Affect Your Plumbing?
Fort Worth Slab Leak Information
Heavy rains after a dry spell in Texas can lead to broken pipes. During times of little or no rain, the ground tends to harden. Once heavy rains start the ground can shift, and this is what causes broken pipes. We all know that in Texas, we are prone to slab leaks as it is, so when we start seeing the rains come, it’s time to be vigilant, and pay attention to what you home tells you.
A few things to pay attention to:
- Water Meter If you turn off all the water inside your home, and look at your water meter, it should not be spinning at all. If it is, you have a leak somewhere.
- Outside the foundation If you do have a leak, chances are it will show up around the outside of your foundation, even if just minor moisture appears, it’s time to call a plumbing company.
- Floors If a hot water line is compromised, you will more than likely feel a warm spot on the tile or sometimes even the carpet. It’s time to call the plumber immediately.
- Walls If you don’t catch the leak right away, the house will start shifting worse, and cracks on the walls can appear. Other things like doors sticking, etc. can be tell tale signs of a slab leak.
